Sweeney Todd Title Sequence
The title sequence is one of the few problems I had with the film. It appears to be designed by a gorey minded 13 year old boy who has just discovered Photoshop. The audience is presented with an ugly mess of soft muddled textures and flat rounded objects which the camera proceeds to fly through. As we enter Burton's trademark and now very tired slanted window we are confronted with a strange looking liquid. Which the audience is forced to assume is blood, we then follow the "blood" through Sweeney's house and store down into the sewers of London. In short the idea fails in concept, and its a pity too. The film provides a such a rich and varied array of possibility's for magnificent titles that theres no excuse for the poorly done sequence they choose.
